How to Take Better Care of Your Curly Hair
As a curly hair girly, I learned a few things on how to take care of my curls. Granted don’t come at me, I have don’t keratin on my hair. This is something I do once every 15 years. I don’t care for it much but to be honest I had too. it got a point that I could not maintain it any more given my schedule. But this post is not about that. This post is everything you need to know when it comes to your curly hair.
1. You Don’t Need 6 or 10 Products
I learned this the hard way during covid when I transition from always blowing my hair to leaving it curly for a year. Throughout the years, I learned that 1-3 products is more than enough. We all see people using a lot of different products to get their hair to be a certain way but know that you don’t need that many. Here is what you need besides your shampoo, conditioner.
– Deep Mask
– Curly Definition Cream
– Mousse or Gel
That’s all you need. Depending on your hair type you might need less or maybe one more product.
2. Get To Know Your Hair Type
Not all Hair products works the same, that why you should check out my last blog post about your curly hair type. Your hair type honestly matters more than you know because not all hair type works with all hair products.
3. Trims
Please get trims every other month or so to cut off the dead ends. Some people do every other month, every 3 months, 6 month to even once a year. Curly hair tends to dry out faster than straight hair be they why I say every other month to maybe 3 months. Hair cuts are key to hair being healthy at the ends.
4. Heat
If you’re like me you might be applying heat more than you should but I really don’t recommend it. You see heat damages your curls to the points some parts might not curl back unless you cut it off and let the hair grow back. Sometimes I do regret getting the keratin done only because I do miss my curls and I know this might have damaged my hair in a way. If you are going to apply heat to your hair, I suggest that you use a really good heat protectant like Tresemme Heat Protector. I use this even now from time to time.
5. Combing
You want make sure yo have the right hair comb for your hair. The best one in the market in my opinion is the Bounce Curl Brush. Their brush is amazing! I had to buy one for myself and I loved it. The bristle glides through my hair without a problem and the side separator helps my curl clump and form better and smoother. I also suggest the derma brush as well for coil hair since it’s smaller and works wonders.
